Now I'd never normally bother blogging about a regular morning ride in our local woods it's not that theres anything wrong with just going for a ride or that I'm fixated with racing, in fact it's very much the opposite. The main reason I don't is because I'm quite lazy! Family, DIY, my favourite T.V. shows etc. are all very good distractions that keep me from writing on here. Add to that the fact that my job revolves around I.T. and it's very easy to leave the laptop switched off and do something else.
So what was so special about this particular ride? Well the answer is nothing, but having been off the bike for a couple of weeks due to illness and having not ridden with the regular crew for a few weeks due to holidays and life getting in the way something clicked with me that I felt I had to record and not just take for granted. The weather was amazing, dry and not too hot, the dirt was perfect, dark and loamy like fresh coffee grounds, the local trail pixies had been busy adding a few new bits to the local secret trails (we still have no idea who you are of when you build this stuff but thank you it's ace!) and the banter was flowing. It wasn't until the ride was over and we'd all headed home our separate ways that it sunk in just how special being able to lark about on bikes with a bunch of good mates is to me and how lucky I feel to live so close to some really fun trails that may not be world class but feel special because they're ours.
So that's it, a blog about nothing in particular or of amazingly ground breaking revelations, just that playing around on bikes is a wonderful thing and for once I didn't take it for granted and realised just how great it is!
Right enough gushing I'm off to find someone to man hug and find something else to do rather than typing on this damn lap top.
